Biography


Jan Majewski manages IHCD inclusive cultural projects of all sizes, which include assessments of accessibility and Inclusive Design in existing conditions, consultation on inclusive exhibition and program design, reviews of general visitor experiences, exhibition prototypes, and programming with people who have lived experience with disability, and extensive staff and volunteer training on a broad range of topics related to accessibility. She directs these projects with deep expertise in compliance with Federal disability rights laws and state and local codes and also with the Principles of Universal Design and their application across the varied offerings of cultural organizations. Jan led the team that wrote the Smithsonian Guidelines for Accessible Exhibition Design in 1996 and was honored in 2020 by the American Alliance of Museums with its Individual Award for Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion.
