Biography
Paul Schwartz, M.S., ATP, RET, CPE is a Rehabilitation Engineer and the Assistive Technology Manager for the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute (SVRI) at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Paul is originally from Pennsylvania and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Penn State University and a M.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Ohio University. Paul thesis involved researching the design interface for the TouchTalker, an augmentative communication device. He is a RESNA certified Assistive Technology Professional (ATP), a certified Rehabilitation Engineering Technologist (RET) and a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE). He provides job and home site accommodations, computer access and ergonomics services to industry, state agencies, educational systems, insurance companies and individuals. In addition, he has taught graduate level courses on ergonomics, assistive technology and computer applications in rehabilitation. He has also trained assistive technology professionals nationwide. Mr. Schwartz has been a frequent presenter and faculty at Closing the Gap, CSUN and RESNA. Mr. Schwartz is the past chair of RESNA's Special Interest Group in Job Accommodations and Employment Issues and served for seven years on RESNA's Professional Standards Board. He is a current member of RESNA's Board of Directors. He has worked for SVRI for over 19 years, and prior to that, he worked in product design for Semantic Compaction Systems and Prentke Romich.
