Biography


Shannon M. Ackenhausen is an assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan. She is currently the acting chief of the office's Civil Rights Unit, which enforces federal civil rights laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, disability, and other protected characteristics, including the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act. Prior to joining the U.S. Department of Justice, Ms. Ackenhausen was an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath (now Faegre Drinker) and a staff attorney with the Legal Council for Health Justice in Chicago.
