Biography
Renee Wohlenhaus is Deputy Chief of the Disability Rights Section (DRS) of the Civil Rights Division at the United States Department of Justice, located in Washington, D.C. DRS enforces the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and coordinates enforcement with other federal, State, and local agencies protecting civil rights of persons with disabilities. Before joining the Civil Rights Division in 1994, Renee was Senior Trial Attorney in the Federal Programs Branch of the Civil Division, where she began as counsel in 1983, defending a broad variety of statutory and constitutional challenges to federal laws, regulations, programs and policies in federal courts. Renee began her career as a trial attorney in the Office of General Counsel, United States Department of Agriculture, from 1980 until 1983, defending the Food Stamp and Child Nutrition Programs.
